Skatespergers

is this skateboarding
A lot of skaters with autistic tendencies tend to find the endeavour rewarding because they will be able to take control of the activity to suit there own outcome. Accept some of the people on the autistic spectrum may find it hard not to be setting extremely high standards of their performance. This then leads people away from rewarding the good work of building up skills that do not result in the finished trick or movement.

This is why I am now becoming more comfortable with being out of control whilst in control. It is important to have high standards and to keeping chipping away at the next skill you wish to learn. Just remember that you are supposed to feel a sense of achievement even when it is just a small development in your overall life in skateboarding.

I would not have found that skateboarding in contests made me aware that it is an achievement to conquer mental pressure and overcome nerves without trying in the first place. Maybe this is not skateboarding to some people, but I was amazed that I got myself to be in a situation that is out of my control, whilst being in control, skateboarding.

Yesterday after skating with Fred Simonds he took away the Girl give away board because he is clearly having some razor tail issues. Good to see Fred skating so well.

A Thrashed early 90 s style board

I am giving this board to my local skate store a needed replacement for the local kids. Most of my boards last about 4 months, I had a good time doing pressure flips on this one.

Skate spergers

I am happy with reflecting on my contest run history from the Blockless Combat Comp. It is interesting that allthough my nerves were up at this event I kept my skating at a consistent level.
Currently I am making improvements on the moves in these videos and learning a few new tricks.
Yet I am not as nervous when I skate in the weekly sessions compared to the contest.
So why am I going into an OCD style overload of a routine just to drop in now?
Answer is Skate spergers, I will not loose my drop in no way I have come to far for that to happen.
Perhaps the nerves are always there contest or not, and when it's just a session with less pressure to get in I start to indulge in this routine thing I have. I think it should phase out and be replaced soon enough by some other behaviour like a touchdown celebration at the end of every run?

February will be a month of car park spots for me because this winter shows
no sign of slowing up. This 2009 footage of the defunct car park 7 has me stoked
for new car park adventures.

Fur creAtion

The new video with a voice over from Creation Skatepark Birmingham staff superman Phil.

Not Good Enough

The posts last year were patchy or almost non existent. So this year it is going to be different I hope.
My new ideas are to continue to report on the Skatesperger adventures each week and create more Zines, Videos and Artwork that reflect the atmosphere in the sessions. I will try to improve this blog and get some ideas for new products from the world of music, fashion, film, friends and books.
In my skateboarding I really want to buy a new helmet for my vert sessions because thats super important and continue to improve my control of my nerves in the sessions. On the street I want to film new clips to show the fun of finding a spot, travelling and learning tricks. Most of all I want to stretch everyday, stop hesitating and get on with what I say want to do.
